Harare Street Trend: The (Hair) Bun Story

I’m always talking about fashion and the latest looks that I admire but today I focus my attention on Hair, specifically the infamous hair bun which is synonymous with ballerinas and is probably one of my favourite hairstyles as it is sleek and sophisticated with any look whether formal or casual. The significance of this hairstyle to me is the young ladies rocking this hairstyle in Harare with fun braids for the spring as well as the lovely Ms. Keyshia Cole owning it in her latest video with Lil' Wayne. There are so many cool and fun ways to tie your bun that I had to experiment with my new braids, and let’s just say I was very pleased with the results.
My Version of the Ballerina Bun

My Homemade Tutorial:
My bun was homemade so here it goes;
1.       what I did was tie my braids up with my head held low
2.       Pulled them up to the middle and tied with a small black scrunchie into a ponytail.
3.       Next I parted my ponytail in the middle to make them into two parts
4.       Next I twisted them right round the holding black scrunchie towards the same direction until they made a nice cushy bun
5.       Then I took another black scrunchie and placed it right over the bun to hold it down nice and neatly.
Either that or you can check out thebeautydepartment version for another tutorial to creating a ballerina bun.
My Bun inspiration thanks to Keyshia Cole

It also seems as if the bigger the hair bun, the better!

Queen Bey In House Of Dereon Campaign

The original Queen B* Beyonce Knowles is in the ad campaign for House of Dereon's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection launched in August 2012. I'm loving the fierce sassyness Miss Bey is rocking, but i'm looking beyond the campaign and more on the look. I'm more intrigued by the bawler-looking hat and the black leather jacket as well as the printed harem/slim pants. The look of the campaign itself is just divine!

Mama Tina Knowles says it best in this extract from the website;
"The much anticipated fall/winter collection was inspired by BeyoncĂ©’s historic performance at the Glastonbury Music Festival last year. The autumn delivery is focused around the ‘boho-inspired girl who attends the festival and includes floor length skirts, casual jersey tops paired with denim that is an homage to the alternative rock bands, their music and eclectic sense of style.
For winter, the inspiration is more focused around BeyoncĂ©’s Glastonbury stage look. This delivery features sequined styles and an intensified color palette that uses strong shades of ruby and amethyst ground with black to create a bold, exciting fashion statement that evokes a luxe party theme and speaks to a rocker in all of us."

Local Lovely Flavour: Tatenda Robin Chaibva

My LLF for September is a definite young local who loves fashion as much as I do. My LLF this month is a Zimbabwe Fashion Blogger and High-heeled Shoe Lover, Tatenda Robin Chaibva and her uber cool blog Tatenda’s Concrete Jungle. Last week is when I discovered this fellow blogger as I was parading around online looking  for up to date and the best info on the recently held Zimbabwe Fashion Week (unfortunately I couldn’t go) just to get an idea of what went down as a new blogger. Tatenda’s blog is definitely on point with all things fashion on a local and international scale. I personally love the idea that I found someone who shares the same vision as I do, which is a girl telling the truth about fashion through her own eyes J. Tatenda not only has a Concrete Jungle but also took home the award for Zimbabwe Fashion Blogger 2012 at ZFW 2012 and did I mention over the weekend she was so kind enough to write an article in my name (in my honour) after a hair raising issue that catapulted my Saturday titled The Turban Movement (Thank You Tat!). I feel like a Girl-Date might be in order.

I Want A Mr. Price Summer!

Recently Mr. Price SA introduced a brand new webby that includes an online store (Available only in South Africa), although my blog maybe a little late to showcase this, I still wanted to share the summer that is Mr Price (Mr. P) clothing. I’m loving their Spring/Summer 2012 collection that has themes such as Sunset Nomad (my Fave), Aquatic and the Hawaiian Prints. The campaign on its own makes me want to dive into the essence of a fun summer with lots of braais, cocktails and girlfiends!

Secretly I want a Mr. Price summer with the exception that it'll be Harare of course.

Pink's Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

Awesome, crazy, edgy ROCKSTAR P!nk is back with a vengence of course with her up and coming new album "The Truth About Love". I'm a HUGE Pink fan because her persona and look is my alter ego (something that i'm not in real life but what I could be in another life). Regardless i love this Lady and her latest video Blow Me (One Last Kiss) is an awesome offering. I focused more on the theme of the video as well as her look. An old Hollywood western-inspired theme with lots of Lace and dark makeup (Check out the eyeliner). Not forgetting the French subtitles at the beginning of the video (J'adore!) Fashionista or Rockstar, P!nk is an awesome icon for me; she's fierce, confident and looks great in her latest video.
BIG FAN!!
